To the zoo

The kids in this area were off school all week. Bizarre, right? Anyway, we did school on Monday, but decided to take our studies to the zoo on Tuesday. Wayne took the day off work so we could all go. We bought season passes this year, so we thought it would be good to get in another visit before it gets any colder.

Ready for a day of zoo fun

He wants to eat you

New baby at the zoo

How adorable is that?

The girls love the farm area of the zoo.  They can pretend to milk a cow, feed goats, and pet bunnies and goats and a llama and a cow.

A little zoo humor

This was the first time that we were able to feed the giraffes.  Only this one came up for food when we were there.  You pay a few dollars for some lettuce, and the giraffe comes right up and eats it out of your hand.  Abby both loved it and thought it was gross.  Check out her expression.

It was a fun day.  They have a Christmas lights event in the evenings now, so we plan to go back next month to see that.

Irrelevant question: what is in Abby’s enormous purse??

It varies! Often…my old cell phone, a small stuffed animal, sometimes a notebook and pen, a hanky that my mom gave her…and most importantly, her wallet. So if she finds something to buy with the eensy bit of money she has, she can buy it!

And you can see why Mel says “pretend to milk a cow,” by looking at that Jersey Cow. Don’t think it liked the milking part. ~ Wayne
