Ben’s birthday

Ben turned 5 last month!  We celebrated at the beach with lots of friends.  Unfortunately, I didn’t take many pictures.  Just picture us swimming all day, snacking frequently, and sharing cupcakes with everyone.

At the end of the day, we went out to eat with a bunch of the group.  One friend thought to ask the waitress if they did anything special for birthdays, and she said the birthday boy would get a free milkshake! So we all sang to Ben (again) when it came out.

He got presents in the mail from extended family members, but Grandma really outdid herself:

So many presents!

Ben asked me to make sure Daddy knew the M&Ms belonged to him. 🙂

Grandma also sent money so he could go to the store and choose some things himself.  So far he has bought a new game – Power Rangers – for his DS, plus some new styluses (styli?) because he loses them all the time.  He also bought this handy set of tools and promptly decided to build a house.

I guess he needs my cabinets to get the job done.

He LOVES those safety glasses.

The tools came in handy when our van windshield was replaced this week.  Ben was really interested in the process, so he pulled a chair outside to watch the repairman.

Mom! Don’t take my picture!

The guy was super nice and showed Ben a better place to put his chair for the best view.  Then Ben ran in to get his tools, and the man – so kindly – made sure to ask Ben for “help” by saying he needed Ben to tighten this, or hammer that.  Ben was thrilled.  It was so sweet.

cute. I know you said he is still wearing the same clothing size for a long time but he looks like he is growing! Did he like the camera ?
So nice of the windshield repair guy!!

Sometimes I feel a little jealous of the kids when there are workers around like that because I kinda want to pull up a chair and watch, too, and that’s not really acceptable for adults! He is just precious. I’m so glad he had a good birthday.

  3. I’m always on the fence when the maintenance guys come to the apartment. Some times, I wanna watch… But that would mean I have to be here, & I’m not always that hot when it comes to explaining what needs done, etc.
