Ben turned 5 last month! We celebrated at the beach with lots of friends. Unfortunately, I didn’t take many pictures. Just picture us swimming all day, snacking frequently, and sharing cupcakes with everyone.
At the end of the day, we went out to eat with a bunch of the group. One friend thought to ask the waitress if they did anything special for birthdays, and she said the birthday boy would get a free milkshake! So we all sang to Ben (again) when it came out.
He got presents in the mail from extended family members, but Grandma really outdid herself:
Ben asked me to make sure Daddy knew the M&Ms belonged to him. 🙂
Grandma also sent money so he could go to the store and choose some things himself. So far he has bought a new game – Power Rangers – for his DS, plus some new styluses (styli?) because he loses them all the time. He also bought this handy set of tools and promptly decided to build a house.
He LOVES those safety glasses.
The tools came in handy when our van windshield was replaced this week. Ben was really interested in the process, so he pulled a chair outside to watch the repairman.
The guy was super nice and showed Ben a better place to put his chair for the best view. Then Ben ran in to get his tools, and the man – so kindly – made sure to ask Ben for “help” by saying he needed Ben to tighten this, or hammer that. Ben was thrilled. It was so sweet.
