Emma’s 9th Birthday

Emma decided to have her birthday party at the pool this year.  She loves the pool on base, so we invited a few friends and made plans to celebrate there.

We got there right at 10:00, when the pool opened, so we could get some tables in the shade.

Approximately 15 minutes later, they discovered a potty accident in the baby end of the pool and had to close the pool.

Until 1:00.

Which sort of put a damper on the party, given that it was scheduled to END at 1:00.

For awhile the staff didn’t say how long it would take to re-open the pool, so we ate our pizza and cupcakes and Emma opened her gifts.  We hoped by the time we were finished with all that, it would be time to open the pool.

Here I present to you some very shady, dark photos of the proceedings.

The icing melted off the cupcakes in a very “nailed it!” sort of way, but we figured that would happen and prepared by bringing extra frosting in the cooler.  We just told the kids they could add their own frosting. It was like this whole extra activity!

This guy certainly enjoyed his.

After we’d done all that, we found out they weren’t planning to open the pool until the party was supposed to be done, so we made arrangements to move the party down the road a bit and go to the beach.  Luckily it was a small party and I could contact the parents that weren’t there and get permission to move everyone!

We didn’t have beach chairs or sand toys, but we did have Wayne to toss everyone into the air over and over and over. 😉

And it turned out to be a pretty fun party.

So nice of the beach to be close by as a back up! And now… I want cupcakes.

I too am so glad that you had a nice weather day and were able to get in touch with parents and move the party. It looks like they all had fun.
